What is a Kitchenette?

Traditionally you may think of kitchenettes as the solution for spaces that cannot accommodate a full-size kitchen-such as dorm rooms, extended-stay hotels, or even rooms in your home that you're renting out. Essentially a kitchenette is, a smaller version of a kitchen. While you may still correctly assume that kitchenettes are found in small efficiency apartments and condos in urban areas, there is another growing market for them: high-end or larger homes. Some homeowners are choosing to add a kitchenette instead of a full wet bar, because it adds more utility to the space.

What is a Victorian Home?

As you may have guessed, Victorian homes were introduced during Queen Victoria's reign in England. One thing you may not have guessed is that there are various styles of Victorian houses, including Italianate, Gothic Revival, and Queen Anne.

Victorian homes tend to be more expensive than other simpler homes such as Cape Cods and ranches. Though bigger in size overall, Victorian homes do tend to have smaller bedrooms and smaller closets.

If you're not able to picture what a Victorian House looks like, just watch an episode of "Full House." Yep, the Tanner home is a perfect example of a Victorian home with its multiple levels and ornate features.

Bottom line: While some may find them too busy or problematic, if you are a romantic at heart and want to feel a bit like royalty, a Victorian home could make you swoon.

Fix a Leaky Faucet Before It Drives You Insane!

If you go straight to the pros and hire a handyman or plumber, a leaky faucet repair can end up costing $150 to $250. "I would charge at least $145, depending on the extent of the leak," says Marc Ricco of R&L Heating and Plumbing, in Norristown, PA. This option is good for people who lack a decent set of tools, or are all thumbs when it comes to repairs.

That said, if you're reasonably apt at DIY tasks it's entirely possible to fix a leaky faucet yourself. While the price will depend on the model of your faucet, most name brands offer faucet repair kits that can be found at most home improvement stores for $10 to $20.

Right Now is the Time to Sell Your Home

If you've been sitting on the fence about selling your home, it might just be time to hop off. Real estate experts are saying 2017 is poised to be the year of the home seller.

Although mortgage rates have been ticking up since mid-October to slightly over 4%, the rates for a 30-year fixed mortgage-the most popular home loan-are still hovering near 30-year lows.

What does that have to do with home sellers? Well, potential buyers who are armed with that knowledge might hustle to close on a home before a rate hike.

Thanks to rising prices, many homeowners whose property was underwater can now sell without suffering a big loss. If you sell your home today, you mostly likely will buy another.

Is There a Real Estate Bubble in Boise?

Despite the fact that the local median sales price reached a new record midway through 2016, there is not an immediate concern of a real estate bubble. Home prices rose last year because of consumer demand versus supply — not speculation as we experienced a decade ago. Further, the local economy is much stronger and credit is more regulated than during the previous market peak, making our current conditions very different. This report dives into the local inventory and consumer trends that drove real estate in the Boise Region last year, as well as what may occur in 2017.

Tiny house, Tiny Cost?

"There is a lot more overhead that goes in each design and, of course, materials and labor change," says Jason Francis, co-founder and COO of Tiny Heirloom, a custom builder in Portland, OR. Tiny Heirloom bases its charges on price per trailer foot or, in other words, the size of the trailer the tiny home is built on.

"Pre-made tiny homes or semi-custom tiny homes are much easier to produce as materials, labor, and overhead all get reduced as you can create repeatable routines and systems," Francis says.

A breakdown of building costs from Tiny House Giant Journey put the cost of building a tiny home between $35,000 to $40,000.

"The trailer chassis itself is probably the most expensive single item that goes into each tiny home. It, of course, is the foundation of each tiny home so it is justifiable," Francis says.

Meridian named No. 1 housing market for newest homes

Meridian comes in first place, with 34 percent of its housing market built in 2014 or later. That's the highest share of newer homes on the market in the country, according to the National Association of Realtors.

Meridian grew from 35,000 people to 90,000 people in the span of about 15 years. This can be attributed to it being centrally located in the Treasure Valley - where there are plenty of outdoor opportunities and a strong tech industry.

3 Signs It Is Time To Move

Moving can be a real difficult and emotionally trying thing to do, but sometimes its for the best. Often there are some signs that its time to put your house on the market. Here are 3 of the biggest signs:

1. You've outgrown your home
Adding too many people or pets to a small house can make everyone miserable. Just like Goldilocks, you want a house that's not too small, but just right.

2. Your lifestyle has changed
Whether your commute feels like a cross country trek, your friends live across town, or you started a business and are working from home, a new house might be a good solution to make life a little easier on you.

3. Remodeling wont add property value
If you want a nicer home, but renovating your home wont add any long term value, moving to a new home might be a smarter move.
